National Shooting Championship to start in Pune

The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) will organise the Shooting championship from December 13-26 with the support of the Maharashtra Rifle Association. Late entries will be accepted with triple entry fee as per rule, till December 2.

All shooters must be registered with the NRAI and have their shooter identity card to be able to compete in the National championship.

The 60th National shooting championship in rifle and pistol will be staged at the Balewadi Shooting Range in Pune from December 13 to 26.

The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) will organise the championship with the support of the Maharashtra Rifle Association. Entries close on November 22. However, late entries will be accepted with triple entry fee as per rule, till December 2.

Wild card requests must be routed through the State Associations by November 22, along with entry fee and a deposit of Rs.5000. Those below 21 years as on December 31, 2016, will be eligible to compete as juniors, and those below 18 on that date will be eligible as youth.

Shooters below 12 years of age will not be allowed. All shooters must be registered with the NRAI and have their shooter identity card to be able to compete in the National championship.

In extraordinary circumstances, the organising secretary may grant permission for use of a common weapon. The names of the shooters likely to use common weapon should be submitted with the weapon number to the organising secretary in advance.

The entry fee will be Rs.1725 per event for rifle 3-position and prone in the men’s section and Rs.1050 per team. It will be 1125 for women, and 1050 for team. It will be the same correspondingly for the youth and junior events.

For air rifle, the entry fee will be Rs.750 per shooter, and Rs.1050 for team, for both men and women. For the pistol events, it will be Rs.1125 for all events, except air pistol which will have an entry fee of Rs.750.

Ace shooter Ashok Pandit will be the Director of Competition and Pawan Singh will be the convenor.
