64th Shooting Nationals: Kiran Jadhav crowned men's 3P champion

World junior champion Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar who had shot national record scores of 1185 and 463.4 in Lima, Peru, this year, was pushed to the bronze medal after he topped qualification with 1183.

Coach Suma Shirur with the 50-metre rifle 3-position medallists, Niraj Kumar, champion Kiran Jadhav and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar in the National shooting championship in Bhopal on Sunday.

Kiran Jadhav was at his competitive best in the climax as he shot 10.9, 10.9, 10.8 and 10.7 to clinch the gold with a 0.4 point margin over his Navy team mate Niraj Kumar in the 50-metre rifle 3-position event in the 64th National Shooting Championship in Bhopal on Sunday.

Interestingly, all the three rifle shooters are trained by coach Suma Shirur. Olympians Chain Singh and Sanjeev Rajput took the fourth and fifth spots respectively. Aishwary won the junior gold by outclassing the field. In the skeet event in Patiala, Rajveer Singh Gill won both the men’s and junior gold medals. He beat qualification topper Anantjeet Singh Naruka by four points for the men’s gold, while Olympian Mairaj Ahmad Khan settled for the bronze. In the 25-metre rapid fire pistol event at the Dr. Karni Singh Range in Tughlakabad, Bhavesh Shekawat won the gold by beating Olympian Gurpreet Singh by one point. Qualification topper Anish Bhanwala managed to win the junior gold four points ahead of Adarsh Singh.
