Macau Open: Saurav Ghosal reaches semis

National squash champion Saurav Ghosal put up a strong performance to defeat Hong Kong's Tsz FungYip 11-7, 11-5, 11-6 and reach the semis of the Macau Open.

Ghosal faces the top seeded German, Simon Rosner in the last four of the Macau Open on Saturday.

National squash champion Saurav Ghosal progressed to the semifinal of the $50,000 Macau Open, a PSA world tour event on Friday.

After being stretched to five games by Egypt's Mazen Gamal earlier in the tournament, the fourth seeded Ghosal was in his elements against Hong Kong's Tsz FungYip and registered a 11-7, 11-5, 11-6 win in 38 minutes.

He faces the top seeded German, Simon Rosner in the last four on Saturday.

As for the other Indians, Harinder Pal Sandhu lost 11-1, 8-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-2 to fifth seeded Egyptian Omar Mosaad, in a closely contested tie.

In the women's section Janet Vidhi, who was the only Indian trying to qualify for the main draw, lost in the qualifying phase.
