It is not every day that one gets to see Virat Kohli on the ramp. But Wednesday evening was one such rare moment when the India captain walked on the stage, along with eight top sporting heroes.

The occasion was to unveil the new Tissot Chrono XL Classic Virat Kohli 3018 line. And after the ramp walk, the India captain made it a point to give away the watches to the eight sportspersons — golfer Aadil Bedi, F3 racer Jehan Daruvala, tennis player Karman Kaur Thandi, boxers Manoj Kumar and Pinky Jangra, squash player Sachika Kumar Ingale, basketballer Satnam Singh and swimmer Shivani Kataria.

Interestingly, these sportsmen are part of the Virat Kohli Foundation, which was launched a few years back. And Kohli was happy to help the athletes, who have enough potential to perform at the higher level.

“The Virat Kohli Foundation has been there for a few years now. It was only last year that the honours were announced, something special to my heart and something I always wanted to do for sports people. This was to provide them the platform where they can practice their skills and get opportunity. We decided to launch athlete development programme. We shortlisted athletes and started helping them. I am glad that I could contribute,” Kohli said.

Kohli, who was conferred the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna on Tuesday, however, decided not to talk to the scribes.
