"Yes there is indeed a bit of decline and we need to arrest it,” felt coach Waqar Younis.

Like captain Shahid Afridi, coach Waqar Younis said he will have to think about his future association with the team. “About my career we will see what the state of affairs are. Will meet the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and then decide,” he Waqar.

The Pakistan coach said stories of rift in the team were “baseless” and insisted that the lack of cricketing activities in the country was the root-cause of all ills. “If you look deeply there has been no cricket in Pakistan for the last six-seven years; its effects are showing...Yes there is indeed a bit of decline and we need to arrest it.”

Right balance

Man-of-the-match James Faulkner , who claimed five wickets, said Australia benefited from its right balance. “Today it worked beautifully, to post 190 and I don't think too many things will change for the next game when you are winning.

“We have got a massive game coming up against India, here at home. Whoever wins that goes through. We will switch off from today's game and focus for the next one.”

About his personal milestone, Faulkner said, “In the end I got a little lucky to get a couple...I think it is just pretty basic, to have variations.”
