Top seed Radu Albot of Moldova beat seventh seed Prajnesh Gunneswaran 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinals of the $50,000 Challenger tennis tournament in China on Saturday.
The 28-year-old Prajnesh failed to save any of the five breakpoints that he faced and managed to convert only two out of four.
The semifinal entry earned Prajnesh 29 ATP points and $2,510. He had earlier made it to the final of the $150,000 Challenger which helped him reach a career-best rank of 146.
In the $25,000 ITF women’s event in China, 20-year-old Karman Kaur Thandi outplayed second seed Julia Glushko of Israel 6-3, 6-3 to set up a final against Xinyu Han of China.
Qualifier Vaidehi Chaudhari’s fine run was halted by top seed Anna Morgina of Russia in the semifinals of the women’s event in Egypt.
This was only the second tournament in the ITF women’s circuit for the 18-year-old Vaidehi, coached by Jignesh Raval, and she is yet to get a WTA ranking.
