Adil Kalyanpur recovered from the brink of defeat to beat David Agung Susanto of Indonesia 1-6, 7-6(5), 6-2 in the first round of the $15,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament in Malaysia on Tuesday. The 18-year-old Adil was down 1-6, 2-4 and broke the 26-year-old Susanto in the 12th game of the second set when the latter was serving for the match, to enact his recovery. In the ITF women’s tournament in China, Karman Kaur Thandi and Rutuja Bhosale made the singles pre-quarterfinals without dropping a set between them.
