Davis Cupper Ramkumar Ramanathan was possibly in a hurry to catch a flight as he managed to win eight games in all while losing the singles pre-quarterfinal and doubles quarterfinal of the $75,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Savannah, US.

In the $15,000 ITF women’s event in Egypt, third seed Riya Bhatia bounced back from an indifferent start to beat seventh seed Lisa-Maria Maetschke of Germany 0-6, 6-1, 6-4. Sowjanya Bavisetti lost the singles quarterfinal, but made the doubles final with Rishika Sunkara.

Singles (pre-quarterfinals): Stefan Kozlov (US) bt Ramkumar Ramanathan 6-1, 6-2.

Doubles (quarterfinals): Luke Bambridge (GBR) & Mitchell Krueger (US) bt Andre Ghem (Bra) & Ramkumar Ramanathan 6-2, 6-3.

$15,000 ITF women, Cairo, Egypt:

Singles (quarterfinals): Camila Giangraco Campiz (Par) bt Sowjanya Bavisetti 6-4, 6-1; Riya Bhatia bt Lisa-Maria Maetschke (Ger) 0-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Doubles (semifinals): Sowjanya Bavisetti & Rishika Sunkara bt Tea Faber (Cro) & Jelena Stojanovic (Aus) 6-3, 6-2.
