Sania Mirza sails into women’s doubles final of Hobart International

The fifth seeded Indo-Ukrainian pair of Sania Mirza and Nadiia Kichenok defeated Zidansek and Bouzkova 7-6 (3) 6-2 in the semifinal clash.

Sania Mirza extended her dream run on her return into the professional circuit after two years, as she made the doubles final in partnership with Nadiia Kichenok of Ukraine, beating Marie Bouzkova and Tamara Zidansek 7-6(3), 6-2 in the $275,000 WTA women’s tennis tournament in Hobart, Australia, on Friday. In the final, Sania and Nadiia, will play the second seeded Chinese pair of Shuai Peng and Shuai Zhang who were grossly short of match practice, having got walkover in the quarterfinals and semifinals. The Chinese benefited from Heather Watson’s trunk injury in the quarterfinals, and it was the respiratory illness of Alison Van Uytvanck of Belgium that put them in the final.
