Sumit Nagal’s semifinal against Joao Menezes of Brazil is delicately poised with the Indian to serve at 7-5, 4-6, 3-4 in the USD 54,160 Challenger tennis tournament in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

After an intense battle for two hours and 28 minutes, rain forced the suspension of play in the semifinals in which both players have already broken serve five times each. Corentin Moutet of France has already confirmed his berth in the final by beating third seed Andrej Martin of Slovakia in three sets.
Balaji goes down in doubles
Meanwhile, in a Challenger tourney in South Korea, Sriram Balaji, seeded second in partnership with Jonathan Erlich of Israel, was beaten 10-7 in the super tie-break of the doubles semifinals by South Koreans Nam Ji Sungh Song Min-Kyu.

In the USD 25,000 ITF women’s event in Singapore, Rutuja Bhosale and doubles partner Abigail Tere-Apisah of Papua New Guinea lost their way in the super tie-break after having bounced back in the second set of the doubles final by blanking the top seeds Beatrice Gumulya and Jessy Rompies of Indonesia.
