Yuki Bhambri in Challenger semifinal

In the semifinal, the 24-year-old Yuki, who had converted two of nine breakpoints in pipping the seventh seed German, will take on Blaz Kavcic of Slovenia.

Yuki had beaten Kavic in the second round on way to the eventual semifinal loss to Donskoy in the Challenger last week in Zhuhai.

Yuki Bhambri perspired to a 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 victory over seventh seed Maximilian Marterer of Germany in the quarterfinals of the $75,000 Challenger tennis tournament in China on Friday.

In the semifinal, the 24-year-old Yuki, who had converted two of nine breakpoints in pipping the German, will take on Blaz Kavcic of Slovenia.

Interestingly, Kavic opened the scope of progress for Yuki by beating the top seed Evgeny Donskoy of Russia in three sets.

Yuki had beaten Kavic in the second round on way to the eventual semifinal loss to Donskoy in the Challenger last week in Zhuhai.

Meanwhile, the Indian pair of Divij Sharan and Purav Raja was beaten in the doubles quarterfinal of the $150,000 Challenger tournament in the US.
