The National Basketball Association (NBA) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) will host the Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Asia event, open to the promising boys and girls in the under-17 age group of the Asia Pacific region, at the NBA Academy in the National Capital Region from May 30 to June 2.
The top players from Asian countries will learn from the legends of the game and will compete against promising young players in the region.
As a prelude to the event, which is being hosted in the country for the second time after the inaugural programme in 2008, there will be a development camp for the girls from May 27 to 29.
Around 20 girls in the under-17 age group will be trained by the Atlanta Olympics gold medallist Jennifer Azzi, two-time WNBA champion Ruth Riley and former college basketball coach Blair Hardiek.
There will also be community outreach efforts to highlight the power of sport to educate people towards a healthy lifestyle.
