Tata Steel Masters: Adhiban holds Wesley So in sixth round

Playing from white side of Kings Bishops Gambit, Adhiban proved equal to the in-from Wesley So without ever looking in any danger in the sixth round of Tata Steel Masters chess tournament on Friday.

B. Adhiban continued to impress by holding leader Wesley So to a 39-move draw in the sixth round of Tata Steel Masters chess tournament here on Friday.

Playing from white side of Kings Bishops Gambit, Adhiban proved equal to the in-from So without ever looking in any danger. Draw was agreed with the players were left with a rook, a bishop and two pawns each; The result kept So in the lead with 4.5 points and raised Adhiban’s tally to 2.5.

In the two on-going games, P. Hari Krishna (2.5) held a slight edge over Poland’s Radoslaw Wojtaszek (2.5) and Russia’s Dmitry Andreikin (2.5) was closing in on an expected victory over local veteran Loek van Wely (0.5). Anish Giri and Wei Yi won their games on this day.
