Bangladesh players call off strike, India series is on

BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury confirmed that the players have agreed to call off the strike after the board assured that their demands will be fulfilled.

The Bangladesh cricketers ended their strike late on Wednesday after their meeting with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) top brass in Dhaka.

BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury confirmed to 

Sportstar   that the players have agreed to call off the strike after the board assured that their demands will be fulfilled. "We had a fruitful meeting with the players and the board has decided to accept most of their demands in future course of action," he said.

On Monday, 60 cricketers — which included top names like Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim — had gone on a strike with a 11-point demand. There were question marks over Bangladesh's tour of India, scheduled to begin next month. But after the meeting, Chowdhury confirmed the series is on.

The third round fixture of the National League — which was scheduled to begin on Thursday — will now begin from Saturday, he informed.

The board has also agreed to conduct fresh elections at the Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) soon. The players had demanded that the existing office-bearers at CWAB should step down.
