The opener scored a century to set the tone for South Africa's innings, after the team was asked to bat by Sri Lanka.

Du Plessis supported Amla well; the duo put on 145 runs in 21.3 overs for the second wicket. Du Plessis scored 75.

Duminy pitched in with the finishing touches, scoring an unbeaten 38 off 20 balls to take South Africa to 299 for 6.

The Sri Lanka opener served as captain in the absence of the injured Angelo Mathews. Tharanga began the chase well for his team, putting on 69 for the first wicket, in 8.2 overs.

Sri Lanka slowly unravelled after that point as leg-spinner Imran Tahir made crucial breakthroughs. Tahir finished with four wickets as Sri Lanka was bowled out for 203.
