Promising pacer Ishan Porel and experienced batsman Sudip Chatterjee on Sunday made a comeback to the Bengal squad for its Ranji Trophy quarterfinal clash against Odisha starting at the DRIEMS ground, Cuttack, from February 20.
Keeping in mind speedster Akash Deep's niggle, which he picked up during the last match against Punjab, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) named a 16-member squad.
Porel was away on India A duty in New Zealand, while Chatterjee was dropped after pooer returns in the two matches he played at the start of this Ranji season.
“Chatterjee will join the team two days later as he is playing in the local league. The team leaves for Odisha tomorrow,” CAB said in a statement.
Bengal sealed a place in the quarterfinals after beating Punjab by 48 runs in Patiala.
The squad: Abhimanyu Easwaran (captain), Manoj Tiwary, Anustup Majumder, Shreevats Goswami (wk), Sudip Chatterjee, Abhishek Raman, Koushik Ghosh, Arnab Nandi, Shahbaz Ahmed, Agniv Pan (wk), Ishan Porel, Shreyan Chakraborty, Nilkantha Das, Mukesh Kumar, Golam Mostafa and Akash Deep.
