After scalping seven wickets in the first innings, fast bowler Pankaj Singh took four more in the second to help Puducherry defeat Mizoram by an innings and 238 runs in a Ranji Trophy Plate Group fixture at the CAP Siechem Ground on Saturday.

Pankaj was complemented well by Fabid Ahmed, who also took four wickets, conceding just eight runs. With these bowlers on a rampage, Mizoram’s second innings folded up for just 45 runs, with Michael Lalremkima scoring the highest (20).
Little resistance
Resuming the day on 40 for 8, the visiting side lost the last two wickets for just five runs.
The win helped Puducherry climb to the fourth spot in the points table, with 13 points from three matches. Uttarakhand leads the table with 27 points, followed by Meghalaya at 19 and Sikkim at 13.
