Membership for retired domestic and international cricketers open for cricketers’ body

Male and female cricketers who have featured in an international match in any format will become direct members.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), after being forced to float a players’ association, announced the process for applications through a statement on Monday.

The Indian Cricketers’ Association (ICA) - the first recognised cricketers’ body in India, formed as part of the Supreme Court-directed administrative reforms - has invited membership applications from retired domestic and international cricketers. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), after being forced to float a players’ association, announced the process for applications through a statement on Monday. Retired cricketers - male, female and differently-abled - have been asked to submit applications through the ICA website ( indiancricketersassociation.com ) on or before September 21, ahead of its first election on October 11. The eligibility for membership has been specified on the ICA website. Accordingly, male and female cricketers who have featured in an international match in any format will become direct members. Besides, male cricketers with at least 10 first-class matches (3 one-day and 5 T20 appearances to be counted as one first-class) and female cricketers with five first-class appearances will also be enrolled as members. There is ambiguity over eligibility of differenly-abled cricketers but the ICA will “continue to monitor” recognition of differenly-abled events for the membership process.
