The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 will be held in England and Wales from May 30, 2019 to July 14, 2019.
The first round of the tournament will see 10 teams — England (hosts), Australia, Bangladesh, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and West Indies — play against each other. The top four teams will progress to the semifinals.

Mayank Agarwal was a leftfield replacement for the injured Vijay Shankar in the Indian World Cup squad. Shankar was hit on the toe by a Jasprit Bumrah yorker in the nets prior to the match against Afghanistan. The Tamil Nadu batting all-rounder played the matches against Afghanistan and the West Indies but the injury worsened before India was scheduled to play England. Agarwal was named as the replacement and ratified by the International Cricket Council's technical committee on July 1.
