NEW ZEALAND IS THE WOMEN’S T20 WORLD CUP CHAMPION! THE KIWIS BEAT SOUTH AFRICA BY 32 RUNS TO LIFT THEIR MAIDEN TITLE! South Africa’s wait for an ICC silverware continues. It has now lost two finals in a row. 

Mair is into the attack AND SHE DISMISSES TRYONE STRAIGHTAWAY! Green takes yet another catch. Mair took the pace off, Tryon gets the timing wrong as she hits it straight into the hands of Green. Done and dusted? In the air and DROPPED! Both Mair and Bates call for the ball, and eventually Bates puts one down! Slightly outside off, nipping in, Jafta swings, misses and the ball castles the leg stump! TWO IN AN OVER FOR MAIR! New Zealand is just six balls/one wicket away from lifting its maiden T20 World Cup trophy

Kerr is in to bowl her final over, replaces Halliday. Slightly outside off and that spun away quite a bit, it looked like an outside edge but runs away from Gaze behind stumps. IN THE AIR AND TAKEN! KERR PICKS ONE MORE! Deckerson lofts it high and into the hands of Bates, who takes a wonderful catch at covers. Jafta is the next batter in. Flighted delivery, Jafta comes down the track, converts it into a full toss and drives it through covers for a FOUR!

Jonas back into the attack, replaces Tahuhu. On the slot and Deckerson lofts it towards deep midwicket, a superb stop from Green saves a couple of runs. Seven runs from the over 

Halliday is into the attack, replaces Kerr. Interesting choice.. And she starts off with a wide. AND SHE STRIKES!! What a change of bowling from Devine! Halliday bowls it full and on off stump, Luus moves away and tries to clear the infield over covers but hits it directly to Bates! It’s New Zealand’s game to lose now. Deckerson is the new batter in. Tahuhu replaces Mair. Fullish, straight, Tryon comes down the track and lofts it over the bowler’s head for a FOUR! Much needed one that. Single to end the over. SA needs 63 runs in the last 5 overs

Kerr back into the attack, replaces Carson. Four runs off the first four balls, including a double. Straight this time, Tryon moves across and tries to sweep but misses, and it brushes past her pads. Kerr lets out a huge shout for LBW, umpire is unmoved. DRS taken. Ultra edge shows the ball hit her gloves, NZ loses both the reviews

Mair into the attack, replaces Jonas. AND SHE PICKS UP A WICKET RIGHT AWAY! DE KLERK GONE, CAUGHT! de Klerk gets width, tries to loft over covers but it takes an outside edge and goes directly into the hands of the fielder at short third! SA in a spot of bother! Tryon joins Luus now.

Huge shouts for caught behind, umpire thinks otherwise. DRS taken. Ultra edge doesn’t spot any edge and NZ loses a review. On the fifth stump line, Kapp moves towards the line of the ball and scoops it for a FOUR! CARSON HAS THE LAST LAUGH THOUGH! Kapp goes for the slog sweep and hits it straight to Plimmer at deep midwicket!

Jonas replaces Tahuhu. Full and outside off, de Klerk hits it in the air and just out of reach of the point fielder for a double. Six runs came from the over 

Kerr continues. Flighted, full and outside off Wolvaardt hits it staright to the extra cover fielder! KERR PROVIDES THE BREAKTHROUGH! However, Kerr seems to been still limping.. Cause for concern? Full and outside off, Bosh goes on one knee and picks it up for a FOUR! We all saw what Bosch can do in the semifinal against West Indies and she’ll hope for a lot more like these. Similar delivery, Kerr brings out a replica of the last shot, misses and it’s caught by Gaze behind stumps, huge shout from the Kiwis but the umpire is unmoved. DRS taken. Replay shows there was indeed an edge, BOSH HAS TO WALK BACK! HUGE WICKET THIS! de Klerk joins Kapp. 

Kerr has now broken the record of most wickets in a single edition of Women’s T20 World Cup- 14. The record was previously held by Anya Shurbsole of England (13), who achieved the feat in the 2014 edition of the tournament.

Kerr, joint-leading wicket taker in this tournament, has been introduced. NZ clearly looking to attack now. There’s an appeal for LBW that has been turned down. Devine doesn’t go upstairs. The Wolvaardt-Brits pair becomes the first to score 300 runs in two editions of the World Cup. They had scored 316 in the last edition. The 50-run partnership comes up as well. Oops... WICKET! And the joy is shortlived as Brits holes out to Green in the deep. Jonas gets things started.

The green fireworks light up the Dubai sky as Wolvaardt cracks a drive straight behind the bowler. Almost took out Brits at the other end. Brits opts to use the aerial route to take her team past NZ’s PowerPlay score of 43. Four more.

Tahuhu, who New Zealand has effectively used in the middle overs of late, has been brought in. Interesting change. It needs to break this partnership before it starts to sting. Wolvaardt continues to extend her lead atop the scorers’ leaderboard this T20 World Cup as she swivel pulls to get a boundary off Carson on the legside. Targets the same area off the next delivery but this time Kerr puts in a successful dive. Oops! Looks like Kerr is struggling with cramps as she throws the ball back to the keeper. Thankfully, she is okay to continue.

Khaka to bowl the final over, starts off with a superb yorker. Wide down the legside and it evades the fielder and runs fine, Gaze takes a single. Full toss and Green goes bang! SIX over deep midwicket! New Zealand has paced this innings superbly. Green lofts it again, high and dropped by Luus. A double to finish the first innings. New Zealand ends up with 158/5 on the board

Mlaba replaces Kapp. Short and wide, Kerr moves across the line and smacks it square for a FOUR! Back to back fours for Kerr! Slightly outside, Kerr comes down the track and goes inside out to clear the infield! MLABA STRIKES! Outside off and straightened up a bit, Kerr lofts it again but doesn’t get the desired elevation as Bits takes an easy catch at the long on region. Izzy Gaze is in the middle and gets off the mark with a single

Tryon replaces Khaka. Flighted delivery slightly short, Halliday goes on one knee and slogs it but cannot clear Bosch at deep square. New Zealand four down now. Maddy Green is in at six.

Kapp is back into the attack to bowl her final over. Starts off with yet another back-foot no ball! Outside off, Kerr comes down the track and goes over the cover fielder but there’s protection in the deep, single. 50 partnership between these two. The over comes to an end with a single

Khaka back into the attack, replaces Luus. Back of a length and it’s hit back hard at Khaka, who gets a hand to it but fails to capitalise, tough chance. Single to end the over 

De Klerk replaces Mlaba. Kerr takes a single and that’s 100 up for NZ, it has come in 14.2 overs. Shortish and outside off, Halliday cuts it to perfection for a FOUR! de Klerk bowls a back-foot no ball and it’s a free hit. Full delivery, Kerr comes down the track and smacks it over the cover fielder for a FOUR! Dot to finish the over 

Luus continues. Drifting down the pads, Halliday takes a couple of steps forward and hits it square for a quick double. The bouncaries have dried up currently. It has been more than 45 balls since NZ’s last four. Just as we speak, Halliday picks it up on the onside and smashes a four towards deep midwicket. Similar shot in the next ball, but this time it runs away for a FOUR due to misfield! 

Mlaba replaces De Klerk. Short and wide outside off, Halliday smacks it in the point region for a double. High in the air and safe! Slightly outside off yet again and quicker through the air, Halliday skies it towards the midwicket region but there’s no one there

Luus into the attack, replaces Tryon. A couple of singles off as many deliveries. Angled into Halliday, she reverse scoops it but doesn’t get the connection, settles for a double

De Klerk is into the attack, replaces Kapp. Short and pitched towards middle and leg, Devine tries to punch it off backfoot but misses, ball hits the pads. Huge shout from the bowler for an LBW but the umpire is unmoved. Replays shows three reds and Devine has to walk back! Brooke Halliday is the next batter in. Her 9-ball 18-run cameo came in handy in the semifinal against the Windies and NZ will hope she will play with the same intent but for longer this time

Kapp back into the attack, replaces Tryon. Three singles off the first four balls. Short and angled in towards Devine, it takes a deflection off her thigh pads and goes past the keeper but it’s just a single. Wide down the leg side next. Short, slow and kept low, Kerr advances down the track and misses, dot. 

Mlaba continues to bowl on the pads, Bates moves towards the line of the ball and lofts it towards deep midwicket for a single. Wide down the leg side this time as Kerr tries a sweep and misses. MBLABA STRIKES! Short and towards the leg stump, Bates moves across and tries tries to scoop but misses and the ball rattles the stumps! Skipper Sophie Devine is the next batter in. Consecutive wides down the leg side and Devine sneaks a single off the latest one.

Tryon continues. Slightly short and wide, Bates hits it towards midwicket, dot. Towards the pads this time, Bates reverse sweeps but has to settle for a single. Bates gets a quick single in the final ball of the over and that’s 50 up for NZ

Mlaba into the attack, replaces Khaka and will bowl the final over of the PowerPlay. Pitched outside off and spun away from Bates, she attempts sweeps and misses, dot. Down the leg side, Bates gives herself room and smashes it on the onside for a FOUR! Dot to finish the over 

Chole Tryon is into the attack, replaces Kapp. Single off the first ball. Tight over thus far, just the single from the first four deliveries. Full and straight, Bates sweeps it for a single off the last ball

Khaka continues. On the pads, swinging in, Kerr flicks it fine for a double. Similar line but shorter this time, Bates comes down the track but is cramped for room, flicks, double again. Bates comes down the track again and smashes FOUR towards long off, fine way to end the over 

Kapp continues. Three dots on the bounce. Kept low, wide outside off, Bates cuts it for a couple of runs. On the fifth stump line, Kerr advances down the track, lofts and it has barely enough power to clear the infield as they pick up a single. No-ball called as Kapp had overstepped! Straight and slow, Kerr tries to go across the line but misses

Ayabonga Khaka is in to bowl the second. Shortish and nipping in towards Bates, she goes down the track and smashes it for a FOUR due to a Brits misfield in the deep! HIGH IN THE AIR AND GONEE! PLIMMER HAS TO WALK BACK! She goes down the ground, lofts, it goes high but doesn’t travel the distance as Luus takes a comfortable catch! Amelia Kerr is in at three. Short and angling in towards the body, Kerr despatches it for a FOUR via a pull
