A pleased Eoin Morgan said that the much-needed victory against India in an important World Cup joust, augured well for his men. The England captain praised his key players in a press conference at Edgbaston, late on Sunday night.
Sheer joy
We are delighted. The manner in which we played with the bat especially resonates with everyone in the change room and that too against an extremely strong team.
Jonny Bairstow effect
Bairstow tends to get fired up a lot and that suits him regardless of the week he had. What he did today was outstanding and it was a match winning knock.
Countering spin
We wanted to put as much pressure as possible, I think the period from 10 to 20 overs when they (Indian spinners) bowled made the difference in the game.
Ben stokes on fire
Stokes played a completely different innings. He wanted to take us beyond 320. He was adaptable and the change room was bouncing when he scored those runs in the end.
India's failure at death
I thought we bowled really well and it wasn’t an easy wicket, it wasn’t easy to hit sixes.
