Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal equalled Ajit Agarkar's record for best ODI figures for an Indian bowler in Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday. He took 6-42 to bowl Australia out for 230. Agarkar's 6-42 came at the same venue in 2004.
Playing his first game of the series after replacing Kuldeep Yadav, Chahal triggered Australia's middle-order collapse. The host was never able to recover once Dhoni stumped Shaun Marsh in the 24th over.

Prior to Chahal, no other spinner had ever managed to grab six wickets in an ODI in Australia.

Chahal's 6-42 is the seventh best bowling performance by an Indian in ODIs. Stuart Binny's 6-4 ( Conceded just four runs and took a six-wicket haul) against Bangladesh in 2014 is in the top place.

The six-wicket haul ranks eighth among the best ODI figures of all-time for a leg-spinner. Pakistan's Shahid Afridi, Afghanistan's Rashid Khan and South Africa's Imran Tahir all have seven-wicket hauls.
