England batsman Jason Roy gets out hit wicket against India XI in the second tour game at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday.

England XI batsmen perished in attack mode, before a 71-run 10th wicket stand between Adil Rashid (39) and David Willey (38 not out) helped the visiting side reach 282 in 48.5 overs against India A. Eoin Morgan won the toss in the second warm-up tie at the Brabourne stadium and chose to bat. Jonny Bairstow at No. 3 struck 10 fours in his 64 runs off 65 balls. Alex Hales struck eight boundaries to score 51 off 55 balls.

Indian slow bowlers Shabaz Nadeem (10-0-41-2) and Parvez Rasool (10-1-38-3) triggered a middle-order collapse, with England struggling at 163 for six wickets at one stage. The swing bowlers played the support cast with Ashoke Dinda (2-55) and Pradeep Sangwan (2-64) faring well against attack-minded batsmen. M. S. Dhoni’s absence did not deter the Mumbai cricket fans, as they turned up in large numbers and enjoyed the action in the middle. Ajinkya Rahane leading India A was part of the attraction.

Siddharth Kaul got a look-in after being excluded for the earlier warm-up game at the same venue and he got a wicket. India A allowed both spinners to complete their quota of overs as eight bowlers bowled in all. England XI opener Jason Roy was out hit wicket after his helmet flap fell on the stumps in an attempt to pull a ball from Sangwan.

The scores:

England XI 282 all out in 48.5 overs (Johnny Bairstow 64, Alex Hales 51, Ben Stokes 38, Jason B Roy 25; Parvez Rasool 3-38, Shabaz Nadeem 2-41, Ashoke Dinda 2-55, Pradeep Sangwan 2-64) vs India A.
