Rohit Sharma set another record.

Life is good for Rohit Sharma. After scoring his third double century in ODIs last week, India's stand-in captain, on Friday, scored a hundred in 35 deliveries--to equal South African David Miller's record of being the fastest T20 centurion. Sharma's ton, like Miller's, came in 35 balls.

With Sharma and K.L. Rahul going on a rampage against a lacklustre Sri Lankan bowling attack at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, India got off to a flying start--putting up 165 runs in the opening partnership--a record in itself. India scored 260 for five in its innings. It is the team's highest ever total in T20Is.

Stats from the match:

  • Rohit Sharma's 35-ball hundred is the joint-fastest hundred in T20Is, equalling David Miller's feat versus Bangladesh in Potchefsstroom in October 2017

  • India's 260 for five was its highest total in T20Is, surpassing 244 for four against West Indies in Lauderhill in August 2016.

  • India's total was also joint second-highest T20I total ever, only behind Australia's 263 for three versus Sri Lanka in Pallekele in September 2016. Sri Lanka scored 260 for six against Kenya in Johannesburg in September 2007.

  • 21 sixes hit in India's innings was the most in a T20I innings, overhauling 21 sixes by West Indies versus India in Lauderhill in August 2016.

  • Rohit Sharma and K.L. Rahul's opening partnership of 165 runs was the fourth-highest in T20Is. The top three are: unbroken 171 by

  • Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson for the first wicket for New Zealand versus Pakistan in Hamilton in January 2016; 170 by Graeme Smith and Loots Bosman for the first wicket for South Africa versus England in Centurion in November 2009; 166 by Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara for the second wicket for Sri Lanka versus West Indies in Bridgetown in May 2010.

  • Rohit Sharma's 118 is the highest T20I score by an Indian, surprassing K.L. Rahul's unbeaten 110 against West Indies in Lauderhill, US in August 2016

  • Rohit Sharma is now the first Indian with multiple T20I hundreds. Suresh Raina and K.L. Rahul have scored a hundred each
