“The bowlers did pretty well, especially the spinners. In the end, Vishwa (Fernando) was also good in his last two spells,” Sri Lanka’s fast-bowling coach told the press here on Saturday.

The former Sri Lankan spearhead admitted that the speedsters erred in the beginning. “I am not happy with the way the fast bowlers bowled in the morning. I am not giving excuses but these guys are inexperienced. Vishwa is playing his second game and Lahiru (Kumara) is bowling his sixth. They didn’t bowl well but after lunch they came back strongly,” Vaas said.
Asked about the pitch, Vaas replied: “The track is really good for batting. We saw in the first few hours how the ball is behaving and how the batters are scoring. This is a typical Kandy wicket.”
