Chepauk Super Gillies through to play-offs

Brilliant cameo by Antony Dhas helps the Hemang Badani-coached side beat Ruby Trichy Warriors by six wickets and storm into the play-offs.

Antony Dhas’s blistering knock of 39 from 22 balls (1x4, 4x6) and his 59 run partnership for the fourth wicket with U. Sasidev helped Chepauk Super Gillies defeat Ruby Trichy Warriors by six wickets in the India Cements Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) at the NPRCET grounds here on Wednesday.

With this win, Chepauk Super Gillies qualified for the play-offs while Ruby Trichy Warriors are out of the tournament.

Chasing 133, Chepauk Super Gillies innings started with Thalaivan Sargunam smashing couple of fours and as many sixes in the first three overs but Ruby Trichy warriors pulled things back as Super Giilies ended power play at 45 for no loss. Trichy bowlers continued to put pressure with tight lines resulting in wickets of both the openers as Super Gillies ended ten overs at 73 for three.

Antony Dhas counter attacked by smashing two sixes and two fours of M. Prabhu in the eleventh over as Super Gillies needed 41 of just six overs. A lusty blow from Antony Dhas that cleared the ground brought the hundred for Super Gillies in the thirteenth over.

Indrajith messed up a easy run out chance of Antony Dhas. That was Trichy's last chance as U. Sasidev smashed two sixes in the same over before holding out. Antony Dhas cleared the ropes one more time to score the winning runs as Super Gillies romped home with eight balls to spare.
