Warner out of Australia tour match

David Warner last played a competitive match in June, but remains a chance of featuring in the first Test starting July 26.

Australia opener David Warner has been ruled out of the tour match against a Sri Lanka XI, leaving him battling to be fit for the first Test.

The explosive left-hander is recovering from a broken finger and had hoped to be fit for the encounter, which starts on Monday. Warner last played a competitive match in June, but remains a chance of featuring in the first Test starting July 26.

He was also struck on the shoulder during training on Sunday. Shaun Marsh is set to open in the tour match, while Nathan Lyon is battling illness and missed training.
