Without naming Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Kings XI Punjab's head coach Mike Hesson suggested that a coach or a captain should “make a clear decision instead of making an emotive one.”

Asked for his take on Dhoni rushing to the field during the last-over drama in Thursday’s match in Jaipur, the former New Zealand coach said, “If you rush in, at the heat of the moment, sometimes, your thinking can be a little bit flawed. So, I think, whoever it is, a coach or a captain, ideally if you are able to buy yourself a bit of time, you can often make a better decision.”

Talking to media-persons ahead of Saturday’s clash involving Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Hesson said, “We know we are not perfect. But we know we are playing some pretty good cricket.”

On how the presence of dew makes the toss crucial here, Hesson said, “You clearly have to be able to bowl with the wet ball. All sides are finding it difficult to do, at all venues around the place.”

Earlier, Bangalore’s Yuzvendra Chahal admitted, “We have to improve on our death-over bowling. Often, we've done well for 16 overs but in the last four overs, we have given away 40-50 runs. We are working on that.

“If you remember in 2016 and 2017, with the same attack, we defended even 160. But this year, I think, we are lacking in self-confidence. We have to back ourselves.”
