Vijay Hazare quarterfinals: Jharkhand, Hyderabad in final four

Hyderabad qualified for the semifinals by a 14-run victory over Andhra, while Jharkhand eased to a 8-wicket victory over Maharashtra.

Semifinal Line-ups:  While Mumbai takes on Hyderabad in the first semifinal on Wednesday, Delhi will meet Jharkhand in the second semifinal on Thursday. Both matches will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. 

Hyderabad qualifies for the semifinals of Vijay Hazare Trophy. Heartbreak for Andhra as Hyderabad wins the match by 14 runs. Chasing 282, Andhra was cruising at one stage with Hanuma Vihari (95) and Ricky Bhui (52) leading the way. However, Mohammed Siraj turned the tide in Hyderabad's favour by denying Vihari a century and went on to pick two more wickets. Andhra's middle-order collapsed under pressure as Hyderabad was successful in defending the total.

16:44 Jharkhand enters semifinals. Jharkhand rode on a brilliant unbeaten 53 from Shasheem Rathour to enter the semifinals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In a rail curtailed match, chasing 127 in 34 overs, the Jharkhand batsmen ensured they were ahead by 18 runs according to VJD method when rain arrived. Requiring 38 in 42 deliveries on resumption, Rathour and Saurabh Tiwary knocked off the runs as Jharkhand defeated Maharashtra by eight wickets (VJD method).

12.11 In the other quarterfinal, Hyderabad has set itself a nice base : it is currently 185/4 in the 38th over. Ambati Rayudu was the fourth wicket to fall, being run out by Ashwin Hebbar. B. Sandeep is, however, going strong on 59.

12:10 Maharashtra is falling apart, having lost two wickets in the space of four balls . S. Bachhav falls for a first-ball duck, with Maharashtra now 171/7 in the 41st over. R. K. Motwani the lone man standing, currently batting on 48.

11.50am Shrikant Mundhe is trapped leg before wicket by Anukul Roy for 9, Maharashtra slips to 161/6 in the 36th over.

11.45am B. Sandeep has brought up his half-century, is currently batting on 51 off 50 balls. Hyderabad is 153/3 after 32 overs, the partnership between Rayudu and Sandeep having added 56 runs so far for the fourth wicket.

11.35am In the other quarterfinal, Ambati Rayudu and B. Sandeep have put on 50 runs for the fourth wicket , taking Hyderabad to 147/3 after 29 overs. Rayudu is batting on 21 off 20 balls, with Sandeep, going strong with 49 runs off 43 balls, scoring at an impressive strike rate of nearly 114.

11.32am Rahul Tripathi falls for 47 , holing out to long-on off Anukul Roy. Maharashtra is 148/5 in the 32nd over, the partnership between Tripathi and R. K. Motwani added 76 runs.

11.28am R. K. Motwani and Rahul Tripathi have now put on 72 runs for the fifth wicket, with Maharashtra moving to 144/4 after 31 overs. Tripathi, in particular, is starting to open up his shoulders , taking his score to 47 runs runs off 54 balls, with Motwani playing a more sedate innings. He is on 38 off 51 balls. 

11.02am Hyderabad, meanwhile, has lost Rohit Rayudu just as it was gaining momentum through B. Sandeep, who is batting on 22 runs off 16 balls. Rohit out leg before for 21, becomes Prithvi Raj's second wicket. Hyderabad 97/3 in the 22nd over.

11.00am R. K. Motwani and Rahul Tripathi are rebuilding Maharashtra's innings with their current unbeaten partnership of 37 runs for the fifth wickets. It is 109/4 after 24 overs, Motwani going strong on 28 and Tripathi batting on 19.

10.36am Just as we said it, Hyderabad loses its second wicket , Tanmay Agarwal falls for 31, caught behind off Girinath Reddy. Rohit Rayudu is joined by B. Sandeep.

10.34am Hyderabad is making steady progress in the other quarterfinal against Andhra. It is 60/1 after 15 overs. Tanmay Agarwal is batting on 31, Rohit Rayudu giving him company on 9.

10.25am Shahbaz Nadeem's introduction to the attack brings Jharkhand its fourth wicket . N. Shaikh falls for 8, bowled by the left-arm spinner. Jharkhand 72/4 in the 16th over.

10.15am Prithvi Raj provides Andhra its first breakthrough , Akshath Reddy is out for 18. Hyderabad 42/1 in the 13th over.

10.05am Hyderabad, meanwhile, is kept on a tight leash by Andhra. It is 37/0 in the 11th over.

10.04am Maharashtra has slid further , to 55/3, Ankit Bawne caught down the leg-side off Varun Aaron. N. Shaikh is joined by R. H. Motwani.

9.54am Disciplined bowling and concerted pressure from Jharkhand brings it its second wicket. Varun Aaron dismisses Swapnil Gugale (22), who miscues his heave to mid-on. Maharashtra 51/2 after 10 overs. 

9.45am Maharashtra is 49/1 after eight overs , with Jharkhand seamers exerting more control in the last couple of overs having been wayward to start off with. Hyderabad is 25/0 in the seventh over .

9.30am In the other quarterfinal, Hyderabad is off to a steady start through Tanmay Agarwal and Akshath Reddy, 12/0 after three overs.

9.25am Ruturaj Gaikwad falls to Rahul Shukla, caught at point for 11 runs off 9 balls. Jharkhand 35/1 in the fourth over. Swapnil Gugale is joined by Ankit Bawne.

9am Ishan Kishan, the Jharkhand captain, has won the toss and put Maharashtra in to bat. In the other quarterfinal, Hanuma Vihari, the Andhra captain, has won the toss and chosen to field first as well, against Hyderabad.

Yesterday, Mumbai and Delhi qualified for the semifinals and await the winners of today's quarterfinals. The semifinals are set to take place on October 17 and 18, with the final scheduled for October 20.
