After a crucial and comprehensive 151-run win over Kerala, Tamil Nadu will get a boost ahead of its next Ranji Trophy clash against Punjab in Mohali with all-rounder Vijay Shankar set to join the squad.
Vijay who is currently in New Zealand with India A squad has been in fine form with half-centuries in both the innings he played in the four-day games (62 and 71) and the two one-day games (87* and 59) so far.
With Vijay joining the squad, spinner C.V. Varun and middle-order batsman B. Anirudh have been left out and will not travel with the team.
Off-spinner Washington Sundar who was part of India A squad in New Zealand has returned home after he experienced pain in his right ankle, which he had injured in Ireland earlier this year, that left him out of action for a few months.
