India registered a eight-run win to beat Bangladesh in the second T20 International and clinch the three-match series, at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium here on Tuesday.
The visitors, having won the toss, elected to bat first and set a 96-run target for Bangladesh for the loss of eight wickets. Sultana Khatun took three wickets for the hosts, helping them to restrict India to 95/8, which is also visitors lowest total against Bangladesh in T20Is.
Hosts captain Nigar Sultana made the match a close affair, scoring 38 runs off 55 balls but was stumped by Yastika Bhatia. in the penultimate over. India snatched the win in the last over, thanks to Shafali Verma taking three wickets as the visitors fell like a pack of cards, getting all out at 87.

For India, Shafali was also the top-scorer with 19 runs that she scored during her 33-run opening stand with Smriti Mandhana inside the first three overs. However, things changed as Nahida Akter got Smriti out in the fourth over and Sultana Khatun got Shafali and Harmanpreet Kaur out on consecutive balls as India only managed 37 at the end of the powerplay.
With little contributions from Yastika (11), Deepti Sharma (10), and Amanjot Kaur (14), India managed to go near the 100-run mark.
Bangladesh didn’t get a good start as it lost three wickets inside the powerplay, managing only 21 runs in the first six overs. It was the fifth wicket partnership of 34 runs in 39 balls between Nigar Sultana and Shorna Akter that stabilised the innings. Nigar added another 22 off 27 balls with Nahida to get Bangladesh close.
However, as things would turn out, Shafali’s incredible last over saw four wickets falling including a runout as India defended 10 runs in the last over rather easily.
