Al Ahli Saudi vs Al Nassr Highlights, AHL 0-1 NAS, Saudi Pro League: Ronaldo scores match-winning penalty

Al Nassr wins as Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty was enough for Nassr to secure three points. Both teams had a goal disallowed by VAR. Nassr was more dominant all around in the second half and hence powered through for a victory. Ahli did look fired up again in the dying embers of the second half, however, it failed to convert the chances it created. 

Chance wasted as Otavio blocks it. 

Mahrez about to take it from the edge of the box. 

Freekick from a dangerous position for Ahli because of a challenge by Laporte.

Mahrez picks Al Rahsidi from a long ball near the back post but his header goes slightly wide off the target. 

Nassr is trying to slow the tempo of the game by taking time when the ball out of play and playing negative and defensive passes. 

10 minutes awarded as added time. 

Mahrez was about to unleash a shot from 25 yards out but Al Najei makes a brilliant tackle and wins the ball. 

Ibanez takes a header off of a corner but caught well by Ospina. 

Alammar plays a cross to Kessie from the left but the midfielder’s header lacked power and accuracy. Easily saved by Nassr’s Ospina. 

Ronaldo gets the ball deep as he sets a ball for brozovic to take a shot on goal from outside the box but misess the target. 

Telles plays a ball which is deflected into the path of Al Najei in front of goal but he fails to register a good shot on goal. 

Substitute Alnabit dribbles in from the right and plays a cutting pass in, deflected out for a corner. 

Firmino drifts wide from inside the box as Mahrez runs inside towards the near post and gets the perfect pass by the Brazilian, however his shot is blocked by a diving Telles with a perfectly timed challenge. 

Mahrez tries to a play a string pass inside the box but intercepted by Ghareeb. 

Ronaldo steps up to take the spot kick and stands tall in his signature stance. Sends the keeper the wring way and buries the ball in the bottom left corner to perfection!

Nassr has been awarded a penalty for a late Ibanez tackle on Al Najei inside the box. 

Mahrez cuts in from the right and passes it to Maxim who goes wide himself pulling Nassr’s backline towards him making space for an unmarked Firmino and passes it to the Brazilian who simply taps it in. But VAR intervenes yet again and overturns the goal!!!

Nassr is trying to find crowd Ahli’s box hoping for an opening but the home side is holding fort strong, however, it will hope to be attacking more., The second half has been dominated by Nassr so far. 

Ahli gives the ball away inside the box to Ronaldo who failed to take a shot, takes a heavy touch and the keeper comes out to clear it away. Poor from the Portuguese. 

Al Nassr resumes the play again looking for a goal which stands. Ahli will be hoping to finds the net and not the post again in the second 45. 

Ronaldo’s overturned off-side goal was the only alteration to the scoreboard in this cagey affair. Nassr is yet to make an attempt on goal but is getting in good scoring positions. Ahli too has been doing well in its attack creating plenty of pockets inside the Nassr backline, but is yet to make a strong attempt on goal, apart from the Demiral header that struck the cross-bar!

Kessie awarded yellow for a tug on Otavio. 

Ronaldo gets a through ball from Mane on the right as Demiral intercepts. The ball runs away wide as the keeper tries to close him down but Ronaldo reaches it and makes an attempt on goal from an acute angle and the ball rolls inside the empty net. After a long VAR check, the goal was turned down because the Mane pass was off-side. 

Mahrez takes the corner and slots it in inside the six yard box as Demiral matches it with a strong header that strikes the cross-bar!

Firmino plays a beautiful ball to Maxim on the left who pushes ahead and passes it back in the middle inside the box for Firmino, but the ball is stolen away from his feet. 

Maxim does a fancy trick and cuts in from the left to play it Kessie in the middle of the park who tries to pass it on in the right wing to Mahrez but intercepted. 

Maxim finds himself under a ball soaring high inside the box but his touch is poor. Ball goes out of play. 

Firmino plays it to Kessie inside the box but he takes too much time to take the shot and eventually the ball goes out for a corner. The set piece amounts to nothing. 

Telles plays a cross from the left for Ronaldo who was left unmarked inside the box but the striker misreads it, goes under the ball and fails to make an attempt on target. 

Ronaldo gets a stray ball on the right as he does a step-over and slots a cross in for the far post, but fails to find a teammate. 

Saint-Maxim has the ball as he tries to dribble down the left flank but loses balance in a dangerous position at the edge of the box.

Mahrez plays a ball through the middle for Albrikan but intercepted just at the knick of time for Nassr. 

Yellow card for Ibanez for a hard push away from the ball on Mane. 

Mane tries to outpace the Ahli right back but he stops him with a sliding challenge. 

Nassr is pushing ahead in numbers with slowly building up play. Otavio plays a cross for Ronaldo which is misread. Nassr is awarded a corner eventually but it amounts to nothing. 

Ahli was in on goal as Firmino plays a ball to Mahrez on the right, inside the box, but Telles makes a crucial sliding tackle intercepting the ball. 

Otavio intercepts in the middle of the box and tries to launch a counter attack but eventually the ball goes back to the home side. 

Ahli kicks the game looking for a win that will get it three points behind Nassr in the league table.
