This is Sportstar's ISL 2020-21 match blog of the encounter between Hyderabad FC and Kerala Blasters which will be played at the Tilak Maidan on Tuesday.
Thst's all we have for the night. We will be back tomorrow with FC Goa and Odisha FC. Until then, it's good night.
Manolo Marquez "In first half, we didnt play good football. It was equal game and Kerala played better. If you are in the positions we are in, the first goal is important. We were comfortable after and we scored more. Practically, we are sure in top five but we need one number less (laughs). [Chianese central, Santana to right switch] As you say, it was key. In some minutes of first half, we played without right winger and Joel behind striker because too much distance between mdifielders. Sometimes you have good luck with decisions and that was very important. I think Joel created problems for Kerala. [On Hitesh Sharma] He undertands the game very good and what to do well. He came into the team after 2-3 games. He was not 100 % and 60-65 minutes wa enoguh for him. Another young player HFC can be proud of. I think the five teams in top five deserve to be in top four but one will ahve to miss out."
Kibu Vicuna "I think match was even and we had the best two hances in first half. We competed very well and again we concede two easy goals. Unfortunately, that's how its been this whole season and we couldn't come back in the match. [Rahul's demotion to bench] Yes, he had an injury after the last match. He wasnt able to play 90 minutes. We thought he could play last 30 minutes. I think team competed well and it was importnat to score the first goal today. There was a possible penalty in HFC box by their player. [What to expect restof season?] After tongiht's game we have no chance of making top 4. We are going to play the best way possible. I am very happy with training this week but question of details. We havent been solid defensively but its not enough with the work we do. Club has to prepare best as possible for next seaspn. [What can Kerala fans expect next season and will you come back?] For me it's frustrating this season. We were working hard in the first half of season not with our best team. We did team and tactical talks over internet. Very short pre-season but it was well. We didnt start season well since then we have not been consistent."
Post match comments coming up..
What a win for Hyderabad FC as it moves into third position with two games left to play. After a goalless first half, Hyderabad profoted from poor, poor Kerala Blasters defending by centre-backs Bakary Kone and Costa Nhamoinesu. Fran Sandaza struck twice, skipper Aridane Santana and Joao Victor with the goals. Blasters have now conceded the most goals (33) this season. The one sorrow sight on the night for Hyderabad was Asish's injury, which could prove to be criticial to the team's chances this season. ISL 2020: Points Table

MATCH PREVIEW:
The battle is heating up for the last two playoff slots in the Indian Super League (ISL 2020-21). One of the contenders is Hyderabad FC, which faces Kerala Blasters at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco da Gama (Goa), on Tuesday.
The men from Kochi could perhaps afford to play in a relatively calmer frame of mind; they are no longer in the race for the top-four finish. They, in fact, are lying second from the bottom, with 16 points from 17 matches.

Hyderabad, with 24 points, is placed fifth and a win will take the team to third and closer to qualification. It has to come up with an improved display to get that win, though, after drawing six of its last seven games.
Coach Manuel Marquez feels nothing can be taken for granted despite being placed third in the table.
“All the other teams, from Kerala, who are second from the bottom, till the top positions, can climb positions in the table,” he said. “We will play with Kerala with our style. We will not change that because (we need to win).
“We are nine games unbeaten but six of them are draws. We have to continue in the same vein and try to win the game because our season has been fantastic. We want to be in the top four,” he said.

His counterpart, Kibu Vicuna said Blasters needed to find the right balance between attack and defence.
“In most of our games, we have been creating more chances than the opponents but we are not getting the points,” he said. “We have to improve this aspect. We are working and analysing our mistakes. We are trying to have a more positive percentage in the relation between creating chances and scoring goals,” he added.
