Croatian center-back Mato Grgic has been purchased by Mumbai City FC for the upcoming Indian Super League season. Details of the contract are yet to be declared.

Grgic played a key role in North East United's impressive run in the 2018-19 season. The side had made it to the playoffs for the first time in the ISL. It was Grgic's first season in the competition, having joined the team in September, 2018 from Inter Zapresic, a Croatian club.

Grgic featured in 19 matches in the ISL last season helping his side keep eight clean sheets, joint-first with Mumbai City.

Mumbai City also made it to the playoffs in 2018-19.

NorthEast has faced an exodus in the close season losing manager Eelco Schattorie (Kerala Blasters) and key players Bartholomew Ogbeche, Rowllin Ogbeche and Keegan Pereira.
