Kerala Blasters will be Eelco Schattorie's second ISL team, after his stint with NorthEast United last season.

After finishing above rock bottom Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League last season, Kerala Blasters has appointed Eelco Schattorie as its new head coach.

Schattorie, who guided NorthEast United FC to the playoffs last season, has over 20 years of coaching experience, mostly in the Middle East, had also been the coach of I-League teams Prayag United and East Bengal.

Blasters went through Englishman David James and later Portuguese Nelo Vingada as it had a season to forget, and will hope for better fortunes under the 47-year-old Dutchman.

“It is an honour to start leading this club back to glory. A club with the biggest fan base in the ISL should be entertained with a winning team," he said, adding, “That is what we are going to try and accomplish with passion, teamwork and dedication at all levels. Let the journey start soon.”

“Kerala has a pool of young players in their backyard and hopefully we can start building players into the senior team with a Kerala heart.”
