Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 draw: India up against England, Spain in Pool B; Australia, Argentina in Pool A

Fifth ranked India earned a direct qualification into pool D as the host nation.

The draw for FIH men’s hockey World Cup was completed on Thursday involving 16 participating countries such as India, Japan, England and top ranked Australia at the Lok Sewa Bhavan convention center, Bhubaneshwar.

Fifth ranked India earned a direct qualification as the host nation. The men in blue are pitted against heavyweights England and Spain along with Wales in Pool D.

In Pool A, Commonwealth Games champion Australia is clubbed along with Argentina, France and Chile.

Pool B comprises of reigning champion Belgium, Asian champion South Korea, fourth ranked Germany and Japan.

The Netherlands, New Zealand, Malaysia and Chile complete pool C.

The Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 will take place at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar and at the Bisra Munda Stadium in Rourkela from January 13 to 29, 2023.

This is how the pools look after the draw:
Pool A: Australia, Argentina, France and South Africa
Pool B: Belgium, Germany, South Korea and Japan
Pool C: Netherlands, New Zealand, Malaysia and Chile
Pool D: India, England, Spain and Wales
