India top medals table for at ISSF Shooting World Cup

India topped with nine medals, including four gold, while the US finished second with six medals including three gold.

India topped the medals table for the first time in a shooting World Cup, but could not provide a fitting climax, as the skeet shooters misfired in Guadalajara, Mexico.

India topped with nine medals, including four gold, while the US finished second with six medals including three gold. China (2), France, Romania, Finland, Hungary, Greece and Luxembourg were the other teams that managed to share the 15 gold medals, while Germany, Australia, Austria, Italy, Mexico and Britain got on the medals table from among the 50 countries that competed in the first World Cup of the season.

In men’s skeet, Smit Singh shot 116 following a series of 25, 23, 22, 23 and 23, to be placed 15th. Angad Vir Singh Bajwa, who had started with rounds of 22 and 20, picked up on the second day with 24, 25 and 24, but placed 18th with 115. Sheeraz Sheikh stumbled with rounds of 21 and 20 midway, and thus was 30th with 112.
