Sumit Nagal played in his maiden Grand Slam this week, taking on Roger Federer in the opening round of the US Open. He started on a positive note, winning the first set but the 38-year-old Swiss great came back strong to end the Indian’s campaign at Flushing Meadows. ( REPORT )

At Spa-Francorchamps on Sunday, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc clinched his maiden Formula One victory at the Belgian GP as he dedicated the win to his late friend Anthoine Hubert. In a major development, the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has decided to open doors for the professional boxers to participate in the national and state level tournaments. This is in line with the world body (AIBA)'s decision to allow the pros to compete at amateur  competitions, including the Olympics. ( REPORT )

Top Indian boxer Vijender Singh, who turned pro in 2015, has welcomed the BFI's move to allow professionals to compete in amateur tournaments and has also hinted at competing at the Olympic trials. The Houston Rockets agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $75.6 million with guard Eric Gordon. Gordon was coming into the final year of the four-year deal he signed with the Rockets in 2016 and is now locked up for the next five years and will make roughly $90 million. ( REPORT )
