SAG roundup: Indian men, women kabaddi teams win easily

Indian men’s and women’s teams continued to dominate in Kabaddi, beating Sri Lanka in their respective round robin league matches at the R.G. Baruah Sports Complex here on Friday.

The men's team led by a small 19-12 margin in the first half but got its act together in the second where it picked 16 points compared to the nine managed by the opponents from the island nation, and won the match 35-21.

Indian men’s and women’s teams continued to dominate in Kabaddi, beating Sri Lanka in their respective round robin league matches at the R.G. Baruah Sports Complex here on Friday. Indian men’s team faced some resistance from the Sri Lankans, who gave a tough challenge to the host with some successful raids in the first half.

The men's team led by a small 19-12 margin in the first half but got its act together in the second where it picked 16 points compared to the nine managed by the opponents from the island nation, and won the match 35-21. India had convincingly beaten Nepal 47-23 in the previous outing to brighten its semifinal chances in the six-team round-robin league.

Indian women were more severe against Sri Lanka, which they beat 37-13. Putting up a consistent performance, Indian women scored 18-7 in the first half and then led 19-6 in the second half to make it a convincing win in the end. Indian women had trounced Nepal 51-17 in the first outing.

Men’s: India bt Sri Lanka 35-21, India bt Nepal 47-23.

Women’s: India bt Sri Lanka 37-13, India bt Nepal 51-17.

Handball:

Men’s: India bt Bangladesh 40-17, India bt Sri Lanka 48-16

Women’s: India bt Nepal 47-20
