Can Kane match Ronaldo and Messi?

Harry Kane has become Tottenham Hotspurs' star striker since his arrival into the spotlight in 2015, with the forward having racked up a staggering 79 league goals in 108 matches, averaging an impressive 1.3 goals per game. Kane's success in front of goal has led to him being compared with likes of the Big Two of modern football, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. During the same time-period of three seasons, Barcelona forward Messi has scored 115 goals in 111 games, while Real Madrid's Ronaldo netted 108 goals in 102 appearances in the La-Liga. While Messi leads the pack in terms of goals scored in the last season with 37 league goals, it is Spurs' Kane who is in front in terms of shot accuracy. The Englishman boats a striking accuracy rate of 65%, while Messi managed 59% and Ronaldo a lowly 48%. Photo: Getty Images
Another stat that puts Kane on top is the fact that he took only 169 games to register goals 100 for his club across competitions, while Messi took 188 games to achieve the same feat for Barca and Ronaldo had to make 253 appearances to score his first 100 goals for Manchester United. While all of these stats favour Kane, it must be taken into account that he started his career at Tottenham as an outright striker, while Messi and Ronaldo initially played more central roles. Photo: Getty Images
Though Kane has not yet enjoyed European glory like the other two, Tottenham looks promising in its current Champions League campaign and he, most certainly, remains a strong competitor for the much-coveted Ballon D'or award. Photo: Getty Images
