Fourth seed Ramkumar Ramanathan was beaten 7-6(2), 6-4 by top seed Jordan Thompson of Australia in the semifinals of the Nanchang Challenger tennis tournament in China on Saturday.

The 24-year-old Ramkumar, who fired nine aces as against two by his opponent, did convert the two break points that he forced, but dropped serve four times.

Ramkumar had to be content with 29 ATP points and $2,510.
