Olympic silver medallists P. V. Sindhu and Mirabai Chanu are in line for a second BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year award after being named among the five nominees.
On Monday, Sindhu, Mirabai along with another Olympic medallist wrestler Sakshi Malik, twice World championship medallist wrestler Vinesh Phogat and world boxing champion Nikhat Zareen were named as nominees ahead of the online public voting.
The winner will be announced at the awards night here on March 5.
These nominees were shortlisted on the basis of the votes received by an independent jury consisting of sports journalists and sports writers from across the country.
Anyone can vote for their favourite nominee by logging on to any one of the BBC websites - BBC News, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu - till midnight on February 20.
So far, Sindhu (2020), K. Humpy (2021) and Mirabai (2022) have received the honours. The Lifetime Achievement Award has been bestowed on P. T. Usha (2020), Anju Bobby George (2021) and Karnam Malleswari (2022).
Besides the Emerging Player of the Year award, a new category, the Indian Para-sportswoman of the Year Award, has been added.
