Leg injury rules Cibulkova out of Rio 2016

Cibulkova's withdrawal from the Games was confirmed on Monday after the Slovak tennis star was advised to rest for between seven to 10 days.

World number 11 Dominika Cibulkova will miss the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro due to a left leg injury.

Cibulkova's withdrawal from the Games was confirmed on Monday after the Slovak tennis star was advised to rest for between seven to 10 days.

The 2014 Australian Open runner-up sustained the knock during her second-round loss to Eugenie Bouchard at the Rogers Cup in Montreal last week.

Cibulkova joins fellow WTA players Simona Halep, Victoria Azarenka (pregnant), Maria Sharapova (suspended) Belinda Bencic and Karolina Pliskova in missing the Olympics in Brazil.

Estonian and world number 94 Anett Kontaveit has replaced Cibulkova in the women's draw.
