Bilal Asif and Mohammad Abbas tore through Australia's new-look batting line-up as Pakistan ended day three of the first Test in Dubai with a 325-run lead.
Asif marked his debut with a stunning 6-36, while Abbas returned figures of 4-29 as Australia suffered an incredible collapse and was removed for 202 in response to Pakistan's first-innings total of 482.
Aaron Finch made 62 on his maiden Test appearance but after his 142-run partnership with Usman Khawaja (85) was broken by Abbas, Australia lost its remaining nine wickets for just 60.
Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne were also making their debuts as Australia continue to explore its options in the absence of banned duo David Warner and Steve Smith, but neither could score a single run on Tuesday.
Asif removed them both in the same over and Mitchell Marsh was the next highest-scoring Australia player with just 12, but Pakistan opted against enforcing the follow-on and were three wickets down for only 45 runs at stumps.
Limited-overs specialist Finch displayed patience after resuming the day on 13 and brought up his half-century with a sweep to the deep midwicket boundary.
Abbas finally made the breakthrough and was grateful to Asad Shafiq, who somehow snaffled Finch's drilled shot at short mid on.
Shaun Marsh nicked straight to Shafiq to give Asif his first scalp in the longest format, and in the off-spinner's next over he drew a top edge from Khawaja that was taken by Imam-ul-Haq.
Haris Sohail dived low to his left at second slip to remove Head off Asif's bowling for a nine-ball duck and Labuschagne went two deliveries later, an inside edge bouncing off his pad and into the hands of Imam.
Australia was unable to turn the tide and the sensational Asif had the final wicket when Nathan Lyon's sweep offered Azhar Ali a routine catch at forward square leg.
Asif was unable to replicate his incredible showing with the ball when he had the bat, though, as he edged Lyon behind to Head to give the pair a modicum of revenge.
Jon Holland (2-9) had already accounted for first-innings centurion Mohammad Hafeez and he had Azhar trapped lbw with the final ball of the day after a review overturned the on-field umpire's decision.
Imam (23 not out) will return to try and extend Pakistan's already sizeable lead when play resumes on Wednesday.
