Our correspondent A. Vinod updates from Thiruvananthapuram Kerala inches to 141 for three at tea against Hyderabad.  Sanju Samson (21) and Sachin Baby (3) are together after the home side lost the wickets of Jalaj Saxena (57) and Rohan Prem (29) in the post lunch session.

Ayyappa Bandaru gets the breakthrough for Andhra. He castles Mandeep Singh for 68 (187 balls) as Punjab is 186/5.

Meghalaya is 4 down for 33, chasing Arunachal Pradesh's first innings score of 166. Yogesh Nagar is the man dismissed for 5 (10 balls), caught by Kshitiz Sharma off Licha Tehi.

Yusuf Pathan plays a cameo. He gets to a 50 in quick time. He has just played 46 balls (7x4, 2x6) as Baroda moves to 203/4.

Deepak Hooda gets a 50! He is on 50 off 107 balls (6x4, 2x6). Baroda 200/4 vs Gujarat.

Century for Chetan Bist! He is on 101 off 188 balls (17x4) and Rajasthan is 195/2 vs J&K.

After a stupendous performance with the ball, Meghalaya is stuttering with the bat. Punit Bisht departs for 4 (10 balls) as it loses its third wicket for just 22 on the board.

Nitesh departs for 45 (68 balls) as Nagaland loses its second wicket for 70. He is caught by Taruwar Kohli off Moia.

Aryaman Birla is out for 51, caught by B. Anirudh off Ravichandran Ashwin, as Madhya Pradesh is 133/2, vs Tamil Nadu.

Anurag Sarangi is out after making a century, out for 114, with Odisha reduced to 173/5. Stumped by N. R. Saini off the bowling of Tinu Kondu.

Our correspondent from Dindigul, Dipak Ragav says: One hour into the second session, it has been pretty flat so far from both sides. TN bowlers have not been really able to create chances and MP batsmen have been largely happy to let the game meander along. Only 30 runs have come so far in 14 overs. Patidar though got to his fifty in the first over after lunch while Birla is slowly inching towards his 50 too.

Mandeep Singh gets to a 50! He gets it in 153 balls as Punjab moves to 154/3.

Bengal is two down for 128. Abhishek Raman is out for 48 (132 balls), caught by A.K. Bains off P. Jaswal.

Jharkhand loses its fourth wicket for 151. Ishank Jaggi is out for 15 (26 balls), caught by Pallav Kumar Das off Ranjeet Mali.

Odisha's Anurag Sarangi hits a century. He is on 103, off 176 balls, (16x4, 2x6) as Odisha moves to 156/3, vs Haryana.

100 for Tripura opener B.B. Ghosh! The landmark has come in 181 balls with 13 fours and 1 six. Tripura 176/4 vs Services.

50 for Jalaj Saxena! He has played 95 balls (6x4, 1x6) as Kerala moves to 110/1 against Hyderabad.

Rajasthan's Mahipal Lomror is out for 24 (82 balls), caught by Fazil Rashid off Umar Nazir. Rajasthan 127/2, vs Jammu and Kashmir.

Uttarakhand loses its third wicket for 50, just 10 runs behind Bihar's first innings score of 60. Vaibhav is out for 2 (7 balls), leg-before wicket to Samar Quadri.

50 for Suryakumar Yadav. The landmark is reached in 80 balls (3x4, 1x6) as Mumbai moves to 140/3 vs Railways.

Meghalaya's Gurinder Singh is on a roll. He takes his 4th wicket (21.5-5-46-4) by removing Subhash for 4. Arunachal Pradesh 146/8.

Jalaj Saxena (47*) and Rohan Prem (24*) have propelled Kerala to 102/1 in 36 overs, against Hyderabad.

Siddhesh Lad (8 off 47 balls) and Suryakumar Yadav (39 off 71 balls) are getting their eye in as Mumbai moves to 125/3 vs Railways.

Gurkeerat Mann and Mandeep Singh steady Punjab. It moves to 120/3 vs Andhra.

Milind and B. Sharma bring up the 100-run partnership for the 6th wicket to stage Sikkim's recovery act. Sikkim moves to 118/5.

Darshan Misal falls for 43 (66 balls) and that signals the end of Goa's innings. It has just managed 152 and Uttar Pradesh bowlers have done their job.

Mizoram in trouble at 92/6 as Sinan is out for 14 (44 balls), castled by Nagaland's Abrar Kazi.

UP's Saurabh Kumar strikes as Felix Alemao departs for 1 (14 balls) to leave Goa on 128/9.

It is lunch time at most centres as the players take a breather.

50 for Snell Patel. He gets to the landmark in 92 balls (9 fours) as Saurashtra moves to 115/0, against Gujarat.

Milind (46 off 65 balls) and B. Sharma (40 off 79 balls) have steadied Sikkim after it was tottering at 15/5 at one stage. The duo have added 86 runs so far for the 6th wicket as Sikkim moves to 101/5 in 32 overs, against Manipur.

Uttarakhand loses its first wicket. Vineet Saxena is out for 7 (16 balls) as Bihar's Anunay Narayan strikes. Uttarakhand 23/1.

The defending champion, Vidarbha, is off to a not-so-good start. Something that they wouldn't have hoped when Faiz Fazal won the toss. Maharashtra's openers S. Gugale and C. Khurana have added 108 runs for the 1st wicket, so far.

A good start by Saurashtra. Its openers H. Desai (63*) and Snell Patel (37*) have put on 100 for the first wicket, against Chhattisgarh.

Four wickets for UP's Shivam Mavi. He sends Lakshay Garg back to the hut for 13 (16 balls) and Goa loses its 8th wicket for 115. Mavi now has figures of 8-3-14-4.

Shubman Gill reaches his half-century in 86 balls (5x4, 2x6). Punjab is at 91/2.

WICKET! Ashay Sardesai falls, castled by Avinash Yadav after making 19 off 44 deliveries. Mumbai 98/3 after 26.3 overs.

H Desai reaches 53 runs in 90 balls (10x4, 0x6). Saurashtra has put up 82 on the board without the loss of any wicket.

A disappointing day for Bihar as the side folds for 60 in a matter of 22.1 overs (Samar Quadri 5 off 15, Himanshu Hari 8 off 3). D. Dhapola is the wrecker-in-chief with figures of 8.1-3-13-6 .

Bihar stutters past the 50-run mark, losing 9 wickets. Anunay Narayan Singh is the 9th batsman to be dismissed, for 1 (12 balls). Bihar 52/9 vs Uttarakhand.

Shubman Gill (31 off 70 balls) and Mandeep Singh (22 off 84 balls) have steadied the Punjab ship after early wickets pegged them back. The duo bring up the 50-run partnership for the third wicket as Punjab moves to 60/2 in 28 overs. 

Jharkhand's Kumar Deobrat (43*) and Md. Nazim (65*) are going hammer and tongs as they bring up the 100-run partnership for the first wicket against Assam. At the end of 29 overs, Jharkhand 108/0.

Vishnu Solanki is out for 30 (62 balls), caught by Manpreet Juneja off S.A. Desai as Baroda is 82/2 against Gujarat.

Mohit Sharma accounts for Govinda Poddar for 14 (44 balls), trapped LBW. Odisha loses its second wicket for 98, against Haryana.

Rishi Dhawan strikes as Bengal loses its first wicket for 64. Abhimanyu Easwaran is out, caught by P.S. Chopra for 21 (54 balls). Bengal 64/1 vs Himachal Pradesh.

50 for Md. Nazim. He is on 51 off 72 balls (8x4) as Jharkhand moves to 78/0.

Parvez Rasool strikes for J&K and Rajasthan loses its first wicket for 61 in 17.4 overs. A.V. Gautam is the man out for 25 (51), trapped infront of the wicket.

Pragyan Ojha can't do much either as he is out for 1 (4 balls), bowled by D.K. Sharma, and Bihar slumps to 39/7, against Uttarakhand.

Maharashtra is off to a good but steady start against the defending champion, Vidarbha. S.M Gugale (23*) and C.G. Khurana (30*) have added 57 for the first wicket.

Bengal openers, Abhishek Raman (20*) and Abhimanyu Easwaran (18*), have put on 50 for the first wicket against Himachal Pradesh.

Shivam Mavi strikes as Goa slumps to 66/5 in 14.3 overs. Keenan is the latest to take the walk back to the pavilion for 1 (5), caught by Upendra Yadav.

Five wickets for D. Dhapola! He castles Keshav Kumar for 11 (29 balls) and Bihar slumps to 36/6. Dhapola has figures of 7-3-12-5.

Goa in some trouble at 65/4 in 13.4 overs against Uttar Pradesh. Snehal Kauthankar is the man dismissed for 6 (8), lbw to Yash Dayal.

Good start for Saurashtra. Its openers, H. Desai (32*) and Snell Patel (19*), have put on 51 for the first wicket in 14 overs, against Chhatisgarh.

Mizoram has lost three for 47 after 21.4 overs. Akhil Rajput walks after contributing 28(67b) to the team's total.

But the happiness is shortlived as on the very next ball Samarth has to depart, trapped in front of the woodwork by Gurinder Singh. Arunachal Pradesh is at 59/2 after 24.1 overs.

Anureet Singh strikes as Mumbai loses its first wicket, A. Herwadkar out for 9, for 48.

Sandeep Pattanaik is out for 20 (41 balls), castled by A.K. Chahal as Odisha loses its first wicket for 63, against Haryana.

A 50-run opening partnership for Jharkhand. Kumar Deobrat (16*) and Md. Nazim (35*) have flayed the Assam bowlers so far.

A run-out is all what Bihar didn't need at this time and that is what they have! Rahmat Ullah is out for a duck (1 ball), run out as Bihar is in dire straits at 28/5, against Uttarakhand.

Jay Bista (26*) and A. Herwadkar (9*) have made a solid start, propelling Mumbai to 35/0 in the 9th over, against Railways.

Uttarkhand's D. Dhapola is sizzling with the ball. He has a four-wicket haul too (3.5-0-12-4) as Bihar is tottering at 24/4.

Manipur's Shelly Shaurya is on fire. He has picked up four wickets (4.4-2-3-4) and reduces Sikkim to 15/5.

Anurag Sarangi and Sandeep Pattanaik have added 60 for the first wicket, in 13 overs, for Odisha, against Haryana. Looks like the bowlers are in for some leather hunt all day!

Amogh Desai departs for 19 (22 balls), caught Upendra Yadav off Yash Dayal and Goa is 29/2 in 5.2 overs.

Bihar in trouble! Kumar Rajnish is out, caught leg before by D. Dhapola and Bihar 13/3 in 4.1 overs against Uttarakhand.

Sikkim in all sorts of trouble against Manipur. Nilesh Lamichaney is out for 8 (20 balls), castled by Shelly Shaurya and Sikkim 13/4 in 7.2 overs.

Roosh Kalaria strikes for Gujarat! Kedar Devdhar is out for 2 (8), caught by Parthiv Patel. Baroda 2/1 in 2.2 overs.

Tamil Nadu draws first blood! Madhya Pradesh loses its first wicket for 8, Ankit Dane out for 4 (6), caught by Baba Aparajith off M. Mohammed.

Bihar is off to a horrid start. Vikash and Babul Kumar depart in the space of 5 balls to reduce the Vijay Hazare plate toppers to 0/2 in 0.5 balls. What a start for Uttarakhand!

Ayyappa Bandaru strikes again! Two in two balls. Anmolpreet Singh is out first ball, his defence breached by Ayyappa. Punjab wobbling at 4/2 in 2.5 overs.

OUT! Faizan Khan 1(11), ct P Prafullomani b Shelly Shaurya, Sikkim 12/2 after 5.2 overs.

After ten overs, Tripura is at 26/0 with U U Bose on 8 (29b) and B B Ghosh on 13 (31b) and Mizoram has managed to notch up 25/1 with Akhil Rajput on 19 (27b) and C Lalrinsanga on 0(5b).

And Mikal goes too. After putting up 5(28) on the scoreboard he has been caught out by R Jonathan off Pawan Suyal. Mizoram 25/1 after 8.1 overs.

Bengal skipper Manoj Tiwary has asked Himachal to field first, after winning the toss.

Meanwhile, Andhra, Manipur, Gujarat, Hyderabad, Vidarbha, Uttar Pradesh and Chattisgarh have all won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Sikkim loses an early wicket. Chitiz Tamang departs for a duck. Sikkim is at 4/1 after 0.4 overs.

At the end of five overs, Tripura is at 10/0, with skipper B B Ghosh (4 n.o.) and U U Bose (2 n.o.) at the crease.

At the end of five overs, Nagaland is at 12/0, with Mikal (1 n.o.) and Akhil Rajput (10 n.o.) at the crease.

Assam has elected to field first after winning the toss.

Odisha has won the toss and has asked Haryana to field first.

Vidarbha skipper Faiz Fazal while speaking to Shayan Acharya said that he is confident that his side will put up a good show in the Ranji Trophy and insisted his team is not living on past glory. ( REPORT )

The tournament will see nine new teams entering the arena in the Plate Group. Of the nine entrants, Bihar   is the only team which has prior experience of playing in a Ranji Trophy, before its suspension some 18 years ago. The other eight teams — Sikkim, Meghalaya, Manipur, Arunachal, Mizoram, Nagaland Puducherry and Uttarakhand — have their task cut out. While all the states have opted for three professional guest players, who come in with enough experience, it would be interesting to see how the home-grown talents deal with the situation.
