Welcome to Sportstar 's live coverage of the first day of the first round of the 2021-22 season of the Ranji Trophy.

It was a momentous day for 19-year-old Yash Dhull as he scored a strokeful 113 to lift Delhi from the doldrums against Tamil Nadu in Guwahati. The U-19 World Cup star's century on first-class debut helped Delhi recover from the loss of early wickets and make a reasonable 291 for 7 by the end of day one.

But the other story of the day was Ajinkya Rahane's responsible innings in a heavyweight clash between Mumbai and Saurashtra. Rahane and 24-year-old Sarfaraz Khan both scored centuries as Mumbai trotted to 263 for 3 by stumps.

There was century, too, for Karnataka star Manish Pandey, whose 156 were scored at a strike-rate of 128.93. It meant Karnataka had piled on 392 for 5 by the end of the day's play against Railways in Chennai.

Join us, at 9am tomorrow, for all the action on day two. Until then, it's goodbye.

HP v Punjab | Half-centuries from Raghav Dhawan (73, 125b, 10x4, 1x6), Ankit Kalsi (88, 131b, 8x4) and Akash Vashisht (78 batting, 104b, 10x4, 2x6) helped Himachal Pradesh score 324 for 6 in the scheduled 90 overs, at the Arun Jaitley stadium in New Delhi.

Andhra v Rajasthan | It's stumps, in Trivandrum. Our correspondent M. R. Praveen Chandran reports : Rajasthan ends at 75 for 2. Girinath has grafted his way to an unbeaten 35. Aniket Choudhary ended the resolute second wicket stand having Karan Shinde caught at slips.

Dhull and Lalit allowed Delhi a remarkable recovery after two early wickets had fallen, but there has been no large partnership after Dhull's dismissal.

And what a day it has been for Dhull, who scored a strokeful century on first-class debut. He was lucky, too, as he was nearly dismissed for 97. A front-foot no-ball saved him. First, an U-19 World Cup title, then an IPL contract, and now, a first-class century.

Madhya Pradesh v Gujarat | Madhya Pradesh is piling on the runs, too, in Rajkot. Sidharth Sharma is nine runs away from his century. Yash Dubey, the No. 6 batter, is batting on 21. Their partnership is now worth 69.
