England announced its provisional 15-member squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup on Wednesday.
Barbados-born all-rounder Jofra Archer, who is now eligible to play for England, failed to make the cut. Archer returned figures of 3 for 15 against the Kings XI Punjab on Tuesday, but England seamers Mark Wood and Chris Woakes, both of whom were picked in the squad, had argued against bringing a fresh face in what could have a destabilising impact upon Morgan's in-form squad.

Archer, however, has been included in the 17-member squad for the five-match ODI series against Pakistan, and could raise his stakes for a place in the final World Cup squad depending on his performance.
"In line with ICC regulations, we have to name a preliminary squad of 15 for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup before April 23. However, all 17 players named in the Royal London ODIs against Pakistan can stake a claim to be in the final 15-man squad, finalised at the end of that series," said Ed Smith, the national selector.
Sam Curran's elder brother Tom, Mark Wood, Chris Woakes, and Liam Plunkett comprise the four-pronged pace attack while leg-spinner Adil Rashid and off-spinner Moeen Ali will spearhead the spin department.
Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root along with skipper Eoin Morgan will be the batting linchpins in a tournament where the host side has been touted as the favourites.
