Toss: West Indies captain Jason Holder won the toss and opted to bowl against Pakistan at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on Friday.

Team news: Evin Lewis and Shannon Gabriel miss out due to injuries, Fabian Allen and Kemar Roach are the other two not playing for West Indies. For Pakistan, Asif Ali misses out from the XII that was already announced.

Pitch report: Michael Holding assesses the pitch to have a tinge of grass but that wouldn't excite the fast bowlers. The curator says effort has gone in to get the moisture out. There will be some moisture initially but promises to be a proper batting track.

Weather: It is slightly overcast today.

Quotes:

Jason Holder: We're going to field first, I don't think the conditions will change first as the day goes on. Hopefully we get some early movement and wickets.

Sarfaraz Ahmed: We wanted to bowl first because of the overcast conditions and a bit of moisture. But it doesn't matter, it will be a good batting pitch. Our batting line-up is in form, it's good that before the World Cup our top batsmen are in form. Amir and Wahab are very experienced bowlers.
