As it happened: India vs West Indies Second T20I

West Indies seals the victory with 9 balls to spare. India's batting, apart from Dube's efforts, did not impress. The bowling did not click at all as all the bowlers were smashed across the ground with ease. Windies have levelled the series in Trivandrum and both teams head to Mumbai for the decider on Wednesday.

West Indies 154/2, 17 overs The win is a matter of when, not if right now. Winidies need 17 runs off 18 balls to seal the victory.

West Indies 142/2, 16 overs Simmons is joined by Pooran and Windies hasn't slowed down. The sixes and fours are coming in regular intervals and Windies need 29 off 24 balls to level the series.

West Indies 112/2, 13.4 overs Virakt Kohli takes an absolute blinder of a catch to dismiss Hetmyer! He slammed it over the non-striker and Kohli, running from long-on, takes it one-handed on the stretch. He was sliding next tot he boundary line and he was aware of that. Just before he could make contact with the rope, he pushes himself away. One of the best catches all year.

West Indies 99/1, 13 overs Shimron Hetmyer has come in settled quickly. He has scored a run-a-ball, which includes a maximum beyond deep midwicket. Windies need 80 runs from 48 balls.

West Indies 83/1, 11 overs Shivan Dube comes into the attack and concedes ten runs. West Indies might be behind India at the same point of the innings but the momentus is with the visitor. Windies need 88 runs to win from 54 balls.

West Indies 73/1, 10 overs The visitor was in a comfortable position until Washington Sundar got the ball to turn away as Lewis came down the pitch and Rishab Pant uprooted his stumps. At the same position, India was 92/2 - riding on Dube's innings.

West Indies 59/0, 8 overs Simmons joins Lewis in the assault. He smakcs Washington Sundar into the sighscreen for a maximum. Meanwhile, India opted for an LBW review but Lewis survives and India loses its review.

West Indies 41/0, 6 overs - End of Powerplay - Couple of drop catches and the Indian fielding has certainly come under fire for the second match in a row. Both West Indies openers are steady and India needs a breakthrough.

Dropped - Rishabh Pant this time behind the wickets and Evin Lewis gets a life. Levis makes room, plays the cut and Pant dives to his left, gets his glove onto it but fails to latch on to it. Both batsmen have been let off and Virat Kohli is in complete disbelief.

Dropped - Washington Sundar drops once again and he is having a torrid time in the field. Lendl Simmons gets a life as Sundar drops a dolly at mid-off off Bhuvneshwar Kumar and the batsman takes a single. How much costly will that prove? We need to wait and watch.

West Indies 9/0, 2 overs Bhuvneshwar Kumar follows Chahar with an even tighter spell. Decent swing on his deliveries as the West Indies batsmen are happy to be on the defensive as they try and figure out how the pitch is behaving.

West Indies 5/0, 1 over Chahar gives India a fantstic start. Simmons and Evin Lewis stay cautious in the opening over, chosing not to swing at every ball.

West Indies 0/0, 0.1 overs Simmons goes down the leg as he tries to negate the movemt from Deepak Chahar. Yorker on the leg stump is dug out to mid-off.

India finishes on 170, with Shivam Dube's 54 being the highlight of the innings. It has been a dificult pitch to bat on. The projected score was 176 and India has done well to get close to that. Chahar, Bhuvneshwar and Chahal would be eager to get out and make the most of the pitch.

India 164/6, 19 overs Kesrick Williams cleans out Jadeja's stumps off the last ball of the penultimate over. Muted celebration for the second time today from the bowler.

India 156/5, 18 overs The predicted score three overs ago was 176 and India is crawling to that target.

India 144/5, 16.2 overs Shreyas Iyer departs! He takes a wild swing, gets a leading edge and King at backward point takes an easy catch.

India 132/4, 15 overs Just five runs have come since Kohli's dismissal and the predicted score is 176.

India 121/4, 13.2 overs Slow and short from Williams. Kohli holes out a simple catch to Simmons and India loses its fourth wicket .

India 119/3, 13 overs Kohli has slighty picked up the pace now but is finding it difficult to get the boundaries. He is 19* off 16 balls, with Pant on 8* off 4 balls. Kohli does manage to go past Rohit Sharma to get the most runs (2563) in T20Is.

India 104/3, 11 overs Rishab Pant walks in and smashes the ball over deep extra cover on his second ball to bring up the century for India.

India 97/3, 10.3 overs Third wicket falls as Walsh dismisses Shivam Dube. Slices a rising ball and Hetmyer makes no mistakes, two balls after Pollard dropped a catch!

India 92/2, 10 overs India is halfway through its innings and is eight runs short of the 100 mark. Dube has settled in welll and Kohli, like in Hyderabad, has made a slow start. And off the last ball of the over, Dubey tucks the ball to deep square leg and brings up his maiden half century. Gets a standing ovation from the dressing room.

India 84/2, 9 overs This is Dube's over! 26 runs off Pollard. Three maximums - hammered over deep square leg, over backward square leg and over cover - sees him move four runs close to his maiden half century. The move to promote him ahead of Kohli seems to have paid off!

India 56/2, 7.4 overs Dube gets the first maximum of the match and follows it with a boudnary. But two balls later, Rohit Sharma's wickets are ratttled and India loses its second wicket . He tried to paddle the ball but the line is good from Holder and the bail over the leg stump lights up.

Virat Kohli joins Dube in the middle.

India 45/1, 7 overs Dube joins Rohit in swinging his bat without the right connection. Just three runs from that Pollard over.

India 42/1, 6 overs Kesrick Williams with a good over. Rohit is trying to his best to increase the pace but isn't finding the right connection.

India 37/1, 5 overs Jason Holder comes into the attack. Good swing from the right-arm bowler. While one goes into Dube's body, another gets a top-edge as he went for the pull and goes to the boudnary. Rohit Sharma finishes the over with another boundary, pulling a rising ball to short fine leg.

India 28/1, 4 overs Excellent over from the left-arm spinner. Picked up a wicket and gave away just four runs.

India 24/1, 3.1 overs K. L. Rahul departs and India loses its first wicket . He holes out to deep backward square leg and Hetmyer makes no mistake with the catch. Pierre with the breakthrough for West Indies. Surprisingly, Shivam Dube comes in next and not Viirat Kohli.

India 24/0, 3 overs Much better from Cotrell as he manages to find some swing. He is still struggling to find his line however.

India 18/0, 2 overs Khary Pierre does better in his opening over. He concedes just six runs in an over where the only highlight for India was a beautiful cut from Rohit that was sent to the ropes.

India 12/0, 1 over Good start for India. Cottrell tries his best to get maximum swing on the ball but two loose balls, one of which was a wide, have been sent to the boundary.

India 1/0, 0.1 overs Sheldon Cottrell gets the match started with a short of length delivery that Rohit Sharma pulls beyond square-leg for a single.

Our reporter P.K. Ajith Kumar updates from Trivandrum: Good evening from a pleasant Thiruvananthapuram. The stands are nearly full at the Greenfield Stadium, half-an-hour before the first ball. It is a sea of blue with most spectators turning up in India shirts. Much to the delight of everyone, the day has been bright and sunny and it looks like the rains will stay way. The persistent rain yesterday brought back memories of the first ever T20I match here against New Zealand a couple of years ago which was nearly washed out, though an eight-over-a-side could be staged in the end.
