Anchor role

India A openers Shubman Gill (25) and Mayank Agarwal (25) got starts but failed to convert them into big scores for the second innings in a row. Shreyas and Pandey then shared a 90-run partnership for the third wicket. After Shreyas fell, Pandey stitched a 123-run stand with Vijay to ensure the win.

Will Young (102) and George Worker (99) were the chief architects of New Zealand A’s competitive 299 for eight.

The final one-dayer will be played at the same venue on Tuesday.
